Introduction

Lynne Appel

I love to design websites and logos. I am currently seeking freelance web and graphic design assignments.

I have a bachelor's degree in psychology from Brown University. I received an A.A.S. degree in computer programming in 2003 from Minneapolis Community & Technical College in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In 2002 I received a Small Business Accounting certificate from MCTC.

In 2003 I started taking courses in the Electronic Publishing and Graphics departments at MCTC. I have taken courses in Macromedia Dreamweaver, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, typography, layout and design, scripting, web animation, Quark, illustration, and the history of graphic design. Some of the projects from these classes are included on this portfolio site. I am currently focusing on the Fine Arts courses at MCTC.

I started creating personal websites related to my hobbies and pets in 1998. When I first got a computer, I looked for web sites on the Century of Progress Exposition which was held in Chicago in 1933 and 1934. I had been collecting postcards from this exposition for many years. I discovered that there were no web sites on this subject, so I decided to create my own. My next web site was about my cats and cat-related items. My third web site consisted of scanned images from my collection of old Minneapolis postcards dating from about 1907 to 1918, a period which is considered the "golden age" of postcards.

I now have my own domain at cityclicker.net, where most of my personal sites can be found. I also own the domain postcardy.com and have a blog at postcardy.blogspot.com focusing on postcards and postcard collecting.
